|WEEK 1 SCOUTING REPORT!!!
Welcome to the Silver Anniversary Season (25th) of the Ultimate Flag Football League! If you don't know me by
now, the name is Skinny. Yes I am back, while my full-time schedule problems haven't changed, our new General
Manager Jeremy Makos actually values the time that I can put into this so I am more than happy to be back at it
again. With new management working tirelessly in the offseason to bring order & revitalization back into our
league, I am very much looking forward to see how this season sets the tone for our future.
This will be a very short and inaccurate report as we have a lot of new teams I know nothing about, playing it by ear
is the best I can do. So don't take it as personally as you normally would :P
Reminder: The Power Rankings, Lines, and Players of the Week on this page DO NOT reflect MY opinions. I only
have control over this report but I will use Mike's rankings on my reports until I can better assess my opinion, so
look for rankings differences in future reports.
WHO: BMF vs Wolves
LINE: BMF by 20pts
POWER RANKINGS: BMF #1; Wolves #17
THE SKINNY: Billy Made it Finally! That's probably not what BMF really stands for, but that's my best guess at this
point. With the influx of new teams and their rumored strength and talent, I'm feeling pessimistic about their odds
of defending their Spring 2019 Championship. The Wolves have never missed the playoffs since their inception,
does that streak end this season?
WINNER: Losing to the defending champs wouldn't give me a fair answer to that question.
BMF 37 vs Wolves 6
WHO: Playboys vs Llamas
LINE: Playboys by 23pts
POWER RANKINGS: Playboys #3; Llamas #14
THE SKINNY: When I heard Bill Samph's name mentioned at the Captain's meeting, a wave of nostalgia hit me like
a Larry Koch pass to the face. I'm very excited to see who will be playing on this team with such a storied past
here in the UFFL. Don't know anything about the Llamas, they'll either be spitting fire or spitting blanks, you
should probably wear a faceguard either way.
WINNER: Gotta go with what I remember of the Playboys.
Playboys 40 vs Llamas 18
WHO: FNTS vs Underdogs 2.0
LINE: FNTS by 20pts
POWER RANKINGS: FNTS #6; Underdogs 2.0 #22
THE SKINNY: From what I hear of FNTS, they could be a top contender or at least a playoff team, we'll find out
Sunday. Ok so which Underdogs team is which? Are these Max Hefele's Underdogs?
WINNER: Just in case, I'll give the nod to FNTS.
FNTS 34 vs Underdogs 2.0 12
WHO: Glory Hogs vs Valley Goatz
LINE: GloryHogs by 7pts
POWER RANKINGS: Glory Hogs #9; Valley Goatz #13
THE SKINNY: An undefeated season for the Glory Hogs was met with a disappointing end at the hands of the
eventual champions. Matching that undefeated regular season record will be difficult this time around.
WINNER: If the Goatz are the Valley Dogs from last season, they win this.
Glory Hogs 28 vs Valley Goatz 23
WHO: Crush vs Warriors
LINE: Crush by 6pts
POWER RANKINGS: Crush #12; Warriors #19
THE SKINNY: Spring 2019 MVP Jordan Rush lead the Crush to a very impressive sophomore season. Stepping
things up against this season's competition will test their limits. It looks like Jim Agnew is bringing back the
Warriors, hope he brings Sunny Dale with him.
WINNER: The Warriors of the past have been known to give us a surprise or 2, don't count them out too soon.
Crush 29 vs Warriors 21
WHO: Playmakers vs Reckless
LINE: Reckless by 8pts
POWER RANKINGS: Playmakers #5; Reckless #2
THE SKINNY: Now I've seen JCJ in a Playmakers jersey before, that alone gives me high hopes for this team. The
Playmakers that were with us in Fall 2017 looked very good as well. The rumor mill surrounding Reckless' roster
status during the offseason and their social media adventures with Billy have enough material to pilot a new
sitcom. If you are a popcorn connoisseur, Reckless is your team to watch.
WINNER: Until someone knocks them down off their top 2 status, I have to give Reckless the benefit of the doubt.
Reckless 31 vs Playmakers 26
WHO: New Breed vs Lee Fitness
LINE: Lee Fitness by 13pts
POWER RANKINGS: New Breed #18; Lee Fitness #10
THE SKINNY: The New Breed did something most teams making their debut season never do in this league, make
the playoffs. But this season they are about to find out how tough playing in this league can really be. Hopefully
Caspar's experience and Fritchman's continued tenacity on defense will provide some assistance. Not only did
Lee Fitness make the semifinals, they gave the eventual champions a run for their money. They'll need to work on
that offense if they want to take it a step further this fall.
WINNER: Lee Fitness is off to a good start.
Lee Fitness 24 vs New Breed 7
WHO: City Boys vs Stampede
LINE: City Boys by 3pts
POWER RANKINGS: City Boys #15; Stampede #16
THE SKINNY: Two teams I know nothing about but have seen their names in other leagues. Hopefully they'll find
success here as well.
WINNER: I'm in the dark here, wild guess.
City Boys 20 vs Stampede 17
WHO: Banko vs Underdogz
LINE: Banko by 12pts
POWER RANKINGS: Banko #8; Underdogz #21
THE SKINNY: An early exit from the playoffs made last spring one of Banko's more forgettable seasons, if not the
most. Will Brett Freiler continue to nurture their new young talent and will it be enough to keep up with all our new
teams? Are these Max Hefele's Underdogs? I'm confused.
WINNER: Well I guess I'll go with Banko here.
Banko 25 vs Underdogz 14
WHO: Hawks vs Tornadoes
LINE: Hawks by 18pts
POWER RANKINGS: Hawks #11; Tornadoes #20
THE SKINNY: Last Fall's champions, the Hawks, were upset in more ways than one at the hands of the Lee
Fitness and fell short in defending their title. They need to solve their QB situation if they want to stay even with all
the new teams coming in this season, as Jeff Taylor and Curtis Peace's talents are better served at other
positions. Simeon Otero looks to rebuild the Tornadoes after Jim Agnew left to restart his old Warriors team. Now
that both teams were for the most part merged for a few seasons, it will be interesting to see how this split up plays
WINNER: I don't see the Hawks losing this one.
Hawks 33 vs Tornadoes 13
WHO: Mambas vs MLTG Skinny's Game of the Week!
LINE: Mambas by 4pts
POWER RANKINGS: Mambas #4; MLTG #7
THE SKINNY: I've heard a lot of hype surrounding both of these teams. If the Mambas are helmed by Christian
Jesse, you know there will be talent surrounding him. MLTG have been making big waves across the way over the
years from what I understand. If there is any team in the league I want to keep a close eye on this season, it's the
Major League Tough Guys.
WINNER: Could go either way.
Mambas 36 vs MLTG 35
Lost And Found: Small Easton Red Rovers Jacket with the name "Demaurian" embroidered on it
